Craig Davies PhotographyAbout the artist
Craig Davies Bio:

Craig Davies was a landscape and still life photographer. While his colour work is exceptional, he most enjoyed black and white photography and infared, challenged by concentrating only on the images he observed and not relying on the colours for the perfect shot.

Craig travelled and photographed extensively in Europe, as well as the U.S. and Canada. He sought out the beauty in quiet places that most would not notice.

Quiet landscapes and architecture had a special draw for him, with it’s many opportunities to seek out unseen light and lonely scenes that are actually full of life if one just looks below the surface.

Europe, and in particular France, however, was his most loved destination and his photography flourished there. The textures, the warmth, and the captivating light of the south of France, and the history and culture of Paris drew him and provided amazing photographic opportunities.

He loved the stories behind the photos almost as much as the photos themselves. He only photographed the things he saw, never made them happen and that’s where his stories flowed. Often he saw a story in just a single image and would take that photo and tell that tale.

He studied photography at Emily Carr University of Art and Design.
Early Life
Craig Davies was an air force brat. His father was in the Canadian air force and their family, like many others, was transferred from base to base every few years. While living in Europe at 3Wing, Craig received his first camera for Christmas, an Agfa Clack, and began to capture the things he saw around him.

Profession:
Craig operated his business, Design One Graphics Group, in Langley B.C for over 30 years. He was recognized as business Person of the year in 2011. A dedicated volunteer, Craig contributed his time and expertise to countless community events, projects and committees.

In His Own Words:
“I only photograph the things I see, I don’t make them happen and that’s where my stories start. Often I see a story in just a single image and I take that photo and tell that tale. Sometimes there’s more to a story or a place we’ve visited so I’ll put up a gallery of images to share that experience.â€

In Memory:
Sadly, Craig lost his battle with cancer in June 2013, at the age of 63. A public art display was erected in his memory by the City of Langley. It is located in MacBurney Square, downtown Langley.

Craig’s wife Kate continues to share his photography with the world.
